Grand Blue

Beginner leveling — Anchor → Clown → Maple

What this gets you: Clear Early Access levels on the three Sea 1 hubs with the right repeatables and farm bosses, without stalling on the wrong island.

Written for patch ea-sep-2026 · 2026-09-06

Run order

  1. Anchor Town 1–30 — open blue gate, Captive Swordsman, farm Axe-Hand Logan/Morgan
  2. Grab Calvin’s fruit quest and cheap fighting styles while still on Anchor
  3. Clown Town 30–70 — Mayor Kiyoshi, Johnny / Gambit / Buggy repeatables, farm Choppy
  4. Maple Village 70+ — Gus and Nell repeatables, Marksman, ship from Merry/Mary
  5. Layer life skills and hourly world bosses once combat is stable

Where this comes from

First-partyEternal Pose EA open-world pirate loop; Sea 1 island trio mirrored on BI islands page.
Multi-sourceLevel bands and named quest NPCs agree across Item Level and Roonby beginner guides; BI confirms 1–30 / 30–70 / 70+ skeleton.
Our own runsKey frames from Builderboy TV, Captinttb, Kyphiewya, Pot Guy, and Soraixx YouTube how-tos — synthesized multi-video steps, not a frame-by-frame recap.
UnknownOfficial Axe-Hand display name (Logan vs Morgan); exact Maple boss loot tables TBA on BI.

Character minute zero

  1. On first load, note Race and Traits (two slots). Use Trait Storage if you roll something you like.
  2. Redeem codes before burning rerolls — see the codes page.
  3. Default Human is fine for learning; reroll later with a target passive.
  4. Pick Pirate vs Marine when the game asks — it changes quest flavor, not this island order.

Anchor Town (levels ~1–30)

Goal: hit the gate, unlock the Marine Base loop, leave around level 30 with a fruit and at least one fighting style.

Blue gate at Anchor Town with ~25G open dialogue

  1. Push the main quest until you reach the large blue gate.
  2. If underleveled for the gate, pay the nearby NPC ~25G (or have a higher-level friend open it).

Marine Base approach / Captive Swordsman–Axe-Hand area

  1. Inside, go left toward the Marine Base and talk to Captive Swordsman.
  2. Farm the repeatable boss Axe-Hand Logan / Morgan (name contested across guides) — large EXP; guides say it stays efficient into the high 30s/around 40.
  3. While still on Anchor, clear Almighty Calvin’s fruit quest and buy Brawler / Novice Swordsman if you have ~500G.

Decision: do not sail to Clown underleveled just to “see the carnival.” Finish the Captive Swordsman loop first.

Clown Town (levels ~30–70)

Goal: stack three repeatables and kill Choppy until Maple opens.

Quest directing player to Mayor Kiyoshi on Clown Town

  1. Sail from Anchor when the main quest and level allow (~30).
  2. Talk to Mayor Kiyoshi near the dock to unlock local repeatables.

Clown Town / Clownival entrance

  1. At Clownival entrance, pick up Johnny Nibbletown.
  2. On the Merry-Go-Round, pick up Gambit.
  3. Take the Mayor’s Clownival line aimed at Buggy when it appears.

Clown enemy farm / Choppy rotation band

  1. Farm Choppy the Clown while rotating those quests — Item Level treats this as the efficient mid band.
  2. Optional: Clowns Hub arm-wrestling (beginner → intermediate → champion). The champion is click-heavy; skip or practice fair inputs — do not rely on banned tools.

Buy Katana / Willow Blade from the Clown shop when gold allows. Finish Trickster here only if Anchor Loki + Hoarder skills are done.

Maple Village (level ~70+)

Goal: keep EXP flowing with Gus and Nell, unlock Marksman, and start Maple weapon/raid content.

Boat shop / sailing route toward Maple

  1. Sail east from Clown Town toward Maple Village / Maple Island.
  2. Grab repeatables from Gus and Nell.
  3. Keep following the main story while exploring — beginner writers note side quests keep appearing even past level 100.
  4. Unlock Marksman from the Captain Esopo trainer corridor when you can spare 1,000G.
  5. Visit Merry / Mary at the Marine Dealership for a larger ship (cannons + anchor) when sailing becomes your bottleneck.

Maple also hosts Battle Axe farms, claw upgrades, and Kuro Raid gear — treat those as power spikes, not as a reason to abandon Gus/Nell EXP.

Cross-cutting habits

Habit Why
Main quest + repeatables Story unlocks islands; repeats fill EXP gaps
Life skills (mine/fish/farm/cook) Ores upgrade gear; food buffs help bosses
Hourly world bosses Fruit Chests + Celestial Coins on the hour
Logbook Tracks world info so you do not wander blind

Soft / hard stops

  • Soft stop: Cleared Anchor gate loop and own a Cursed Fruit.
  • Hard stop: Stable Clown Choppy rotation, then Maple Gus/Nell with Marksman unlocked.
  • Never: Skip islands out of order while underleveled, or spend all gold on 1x Fruit Chests instead of style fees and a mid weapon.

Still unknown

  • Boss name Logan vs Morgan contested across guides.
  • Full Maple Village quest list still thin on competitor wikis.
  • Whether arm-wrestling champion requires any third-party click assist — do not recommend tools that violate ToS.
